The Association of Consultant Architects (ACA)
ACA
represents the interests of private practice architects and offers them
the opportunity for a collective voice on matters of practice at both
a personal and a national level.
The ACA promotes
activities which encourage and develop good practice in architecture
by organising and providing seminars, conferences, study tours, press
releases, legal help lines, business advisory help lines, PI insurance
schemes and exhibitions of members’ work. Students
of architecture are supported through the option of free membership
of ACA Forum, which offers access to a wide range of member services
including ACA seminars at very minimal rates. ACA also support students through
the administration of the Eric Lyons Memorial Fund, which runs a biannual
competition and exhibition for Part I and Part II students from UK Schools
of Architecture. A newsletter
is distributed regularly to all members and a specialist services directory
is available via the ACA website. The ACA are
publishers of construction contracts and sell a wide range of documents
from the Appointment of a Consultant Architect to Building Agreements,
through to the innovative Project Partnering Contracts - the first
in the industry following the Government’s Rethinking Construction
initiative. If you are
an architect or a student planning to qualify as an architect and interested
in having an effective voice and prompt representation on issues that
affect you, the Association of Consultant Architects is uniquely positioned
to work on your behalf. Fiona Griffiths,
