David is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, holds a BA and also a Certificate in Education. He was conferred with BIAT’s Gold Award in 1999 for Services to the Construction Industry.
He spent 17 years working in architectural practice and 9 years as a Senior Lecturer in FE.
He joined the Construction Industry Standing Conference (CISC) in 1992 and was (and continues to be), closely involved in the development of Occupational Standards and the National Vocational Qualification Framework for the built environment occupational sector. In 1995 he became the Development Director of CISC.
In 1999, CISC merged with the Construction Industry Council (CIC), where he is now the Director of Skills & Lifelong Learning.
He is responsible for leading and co-ordinating the overall strategic coverage of skills, education, training and National Occupational Standards and qualifications matters for the higher levels of the built environment sector via the CIC structure and through CIC’s arrangement as partner in ConstructionSkills Sector Skills Council.
David is married, has two sons, is an accredited Methodist Local Preacher, supports Tottenham Hotspur and plays percussion.
