CIC Membership

Organisations may be admitted into membership of the Council if they fulfill the requirements of one of three categories of membership:

Full Membership

Associate Membership

Affiliate Membership

Full Membership

Full Members are admitted into one of the following Electoral Colleges depending on their constitution:
Full members are eligible for representation on Council and are able to take a full and active part in all of the work of CIC.

Chartered
Professional Institutions within the construction industry holding a Royal Charter.

College of Independent Professional Institutes
Professional Institutes/Bodies with independent status qualifying individuals in various disciplines throughout the construction process. Membership ranges from students through to full corporate status and requires that an individual has demonstrated the necessary academic and experiential requirements.

Business
Organisations which represent professional services, materials/product supply and contracting in private and public companies or partnerships which are concerned with the practices and efficiency of the industry.

Research College
Research Organisations that are dedicated to serving construction, the industry and its clients.

Associate Membership

Organisations within the construction industry which speak for a defined group - or groups - of members, but are not eligible for admission as a Full Member of Council, may be admitted as Associate Members.

Associate Members are entitled to attend CIC General Meetings, seminars and conferences, and are invited to participate in and comment on the development of all aspects of the Council’s work and receive all information produced by CIC.

Affiliate Membership

Individuals or organisations within the construction industry, not eligible for admission as a full or associate member of CIC , may join as an affiliate member. Universities and colleges are also welcome to join as affiliates.

Affiliate members are not eligible for representation on Council or to nominate delegates for any Electoral Colleges but are entitled to attend the general meetings of the relevant national region.

Affiliate members also receive:

  • preferential rates on the use of the Design Quality Indicator (DQI);
  • regular information notes;
  • liability Briefings and Alerts;
  • a choice of 3 free publications from CIC's catalogue;
  • 30% discount on all CIC publications;
  • access to the IT audit tool;
  • preferential rates on CIC conferences;
  • CIC Cascade e-newsletter; and
  • a free copy of every CIC publication produced during the membership period.

The annual subscription for affiliate membership is £250 (plus VAT), a proportion of which is allocated to the relevant CIC region to cover participation in local CPD and other events.
