Richard's responsibilities
include acting as secretary to
the Building Control Performance Standards Advisory Group. He acts
as Registrar to the Approved Inspector Register. Richard also manages
the office information and communications technology.
Richard is a Chartered Builder and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and obtained a Master’s Degree at Aston in Construction Management and Economics. He is also a Member of the Association for Project Management and the Chartered Management Institute.
Richard had site and contract management experience of a wide range of projects in over 30 years with large and medium contractors, including ten years with Bovis. Seven years with Martin Barnes followed in line project management and management consultancy before Richard became an independent consultant. In this role Richard’s experience included line project management, giving contractual advice, assisting in the development of a new form of contract and the development of national vocational qualifications at the highest level. In 1995 Richard joined CISC as Deputy Development Director until the merger with Construction Industry Council (CIC) in 1999.
During 1996, Richard worked as technical editor on the second edition of the CIOB's Code of Practice for Project Management for Construction and Development which was published towards the end of that year. Before joining CIC he was active for CIOB as a member of several Construction Industry Council committees.
In November 2003, Richard obtained a Project Manager (Construction)
Industry Accreditation CSCS card, after passing the health &
safety test. In 2006, he took the test again to obtain a Professionally
Qualified Person's CSCS card.
In 2003 he was appointed for three years as External Examiner for
Reading University’s College of Estate Management MBA in Construction
and Real Estate.
Richard also holds a DoT/RYA Yachtmaster’s Certificate.
