ConstructionSkills

The Construction Industry Council represents the interest of Built Environment professionals such as architects, engineers, surveyors and town planners in ConstructionSkills, the Sector Skills Council for construction.

It aims to provide an integrated approach to education and training across the entire construction sector and address the industry’s three major skills challenges:

  • Finding the right people – attractive the brightest and best to our industry and helping to retain experienced and knowledgeable professionals.
  • Providing the best possible training – improving the quality of training on offer to meet employers’ needs.
  • Ensuring that the skills needs of the future are addressed.

ConstructionSkills provides a formal framework to move the learning and skills agenda forward for the construction industry. It:

  • Provides a means for employers and Government to collaborate in meeting the priority skill needs of industry sectors;
  • Presents a genuine opportunity for employers to shape training provision and coherent progression routes;
  • Challenges employers to work collaboratively across sectors;
  • Gives individuals access to training which is relevant to industry needs, to help secure well-paid employment and progression.
