Professionals Development Programme

The Professional Development Programme is a free five day training programme that is a ConstructionSkills Partnership initiative developed by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) which aims to expand the skills that employers are looking for in their staff.

This programme is designed to ensure that those who have recently entered the profession (having just graduated, changed career direction or are on an undergraduates work placement) get the best out of their primary years in employment.

The Professional Development Programme (PDP) has been running successfully since 2006 in London and in several of the regions and we aim to expand the reach of this course throughout the UK.

The Professional Development Programme runs for one full week and includes the following modules:

• Health and Safety in Design
• Presentation Skills
• Personal Development & Business Skills (including Project Management and Leadership)

This course is open to undergraduates on a placement (minimum 12 week placement within the built environment industry), recent construction graduates or Professionals who are new to the industry.

Marketing Yourself Effectively

Marketing Yourself Effectively is a one day workshop which was developed in response to the rising number of construction professionals who either have been made redundant or who have recently graduated and are unable to find a job.

The aim of this one day programme is to help you explore and understand what your ‘innate’ abilities, strengths and motivations are, and how to communicate these strengths clearly and comfortably.  This will introduce you to a method of better understanding your natural strengths and how to articulate these strengths.  Subsequently there will be sessions on how to make your CV work for you and how to present yourself at interview.

This course is open recent construction graduates who have not yet found work or Built Environment Professionals who have found themselves unemployed due to redundancy or are under threat of redundancy.
