Surveying, Property & Maintenance  Levels 4 and 5

An important development for built environment practitioners in the UK is about to enter its consultation phase.  These NVQ/SVQs qualifications have been designed for those working in a variety of specialisms in the fields of

  • Maintenance Management
  • Quantity Surveying
  • General Practice
  • Building Surveying
  • Valuation

The opportunity has now been taken to reform the existing qualifications in conjunction with representative industry organisations, taking into account feedback from use of the original qualifications relationship with related parallel qualifications, changing industry practice and legislation etc. Additionally, the reformation has now been based on updated industry Occupational Standards that seek to enhance the format and language of presentation whilst complying with the changed requirements of the Accrediting Bodies.

Asset Skills and ConstructionSkills (Construction Industry Council) have jointly been overseeing the development work in conjunction with industry experts.

CIC is conducting a consultation exercise with the help of those in the industry who have used the original qualifications, or have an interest in using the newly reformed version (notably candidates, employers, assessors and verifiers), to gather feedback about the Standards relevance and ability to meet industry changes and needs.

It would be much appreciated if you could review the current Standards.  We need specific feedback on the content of the qualification. You will need to have to hand the details of the reformed NVQ/SVQ which is issued with this document. Please read the introduction to the qualification to see who the qualification is currently designed to target.

Your feedback is needed and welcomed to confirm or suggest potential improvements to the units to make them more appropriate and usable.  If you are satisfied with the content of the units and have no need to answer in detail, please confirm this.

How do I review the NVQ/SVQ?

Please:

  • Review the full qualification or, if you are short of time, the introductory pages which give a summary of  the NVQs/SVQs, a list of the unit and element titles in the award;
