CPD - Continuing Professional Development

In order to help advance the importance of Continuing Professional Development across the built environment, the Construction Industry Council in conjunction with ConstructionSkills and with the involvement of its Member Institutions, has completed the updating and re-publication of the Continuing Professional Development Best Practice Guidelines. There are now in total four documents;

• Continuing Professional Development Best Practice Guidance, European Framework and CIC Users Guide to Managing Your Own CPD ;
• Continuing Professional Development Best Practice Guidance for Professional Institutions;
• Continuing Professional Development Best Practice Guidance for Professionals and;
• Continuing Professional Development Best Practice Guidance for Employers .

The Guidelines focus on the empowering of individuals to adopt a more meaningful approach to CPD and help to provide the guidance to facilitate this.

In addition, the CPD Events website has been refreshed and updated, www.cpdevents.org.uk
The site provides access to Lifelong Learning opportunities for Built Environment and Construction Professionals; it brings together the event programmes of professional institutions and others, allowing enquiries to search across all activities in the UK, irrespective of provider. The refreshed site operates in the same way as the old site, but with additional functionality. One of the new facilities is that you can now share your views on your CPD development and discuss related topics with other people in the industry.

We would like to ask for your help to promote the Best Practice Guidance documents and the CPD and Events website to as many built environment professionals as possible. If your institution/organisation has not already listed its events on the website please contact us for inclusion.
