Sustainable Development
CIC recognises that the protection of the environment and the pursuit
of sustainable development are amongst the greatest challenges
facing humanity. CIC and its members have an individual and
collective responsibility to advise clients on strategies that
are consistent with their immediate needs, and with the longer
term benefits of a sustainable approach. CIC recognises the
importance of continuous improvement through the judicious management
of our own businesses, and the associated impacts of our activities.
CIC's approach and policy towards sustainability in construction
and the built environment is translated through the work of its
Sustainable Development Committee. Read the Mission Statement of the Committee for further information.

Constructing for sustainability: a
guide for clients and their professional advisors.
Read what was said about the guide:
The guide presents itself as the definitive contemporary guide
to providing clients with just enough of the leadership skills
they require to give themselves a business edge. It makes much
of the triple bottom line and might prove very useful within a
professional procurement culture. There is a lot of up-to-date
information on current best practice initiatives much of it web
based which is useful. It is also the definitive guide to eco-business
speak and should prove challenging for anyone left in the middle-management
layer who still thinks its ok to disparage ‘brown bread
and sandals’.
