The CIC Scope of Services
The CIC Scope of Services is the second part of the CIC Consultants' Contract (produced by the Construction Industry Council), comprising an integrated and detailed scope of services from inception to post practical completion for the complete definition of the project to be constructed. It is designed to be used with the CIC Conditions or with other forms of appointment or building contract, for the appointment of consultants, specialists and contractors, whatever form of procurement is chosen.
It sets clearly defined stages for the refinement of the project definition, and within each stage lists the tasks which are to be undertaken by all members of the project team. From these lists, parties can draw up schedules of services by allocating the tasks to whoever is to undertake them. All participants know what they are to do, and what others are to do as well.

The CIC Consultants' Contract Conditions
The CIC Consultants' Contract Conditions is one part of the CIC Consultants' Contract (produced by the Construction Industry Council) and is for use by experienced clients and consultants working on major building projects. It can be used by either development clients or design and build contractor clients for the appointment of any discipline of consultant.
The contract has been drafted with the aim of striking a fair balance between the interests of the client and the consultants. Where the CIC Consultants' Contract is used on a project, it should be used for the appointment of all the consultants. This will mean that all team members are subject to consistent terms, will owe the same duty of care and will be under similar obligations in respect of co-operation, sharing of information, co-ordination of design and the like.
Vitally, the services team members are to provide are fully integrated by using the CIC Scope of Services. The contract is designed to be flexible enough to fit a range of construction procurement methods, including traditional, design and build, and construction management.

The CIC Consultants Contract Package - Conditions, Services and Handbook
The CIC Consultants' Contract (produced by the Construction Industry Council) is intended to be used by experienced clients and consultants undertaking major building projects. It comes in two parts, the Conditions and the Scope of Services (together with the Scope of Services Handbook). All three documents can be purchased as a package.
The contract has been drafted with the aim of striking a fair balance between the interests of the client and the consultants. It can be used by either development clients or design and build contractor clients for the appointment of any discipline of consultant. The consultants - architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, project managers, CDM co-ordinators and others - can then all be engaged on the same terms.
