Welcome
The Construction Industry Council (CIC) is the representative forum for the professional bodies, research organisations and specialist business associations in the construction industry.
It provides a single voice for professionals in all sectors of the built environment through its collective membership of 500,000 individual professionals and 25,000 firms of construction consultants.
In addition, CIC represents the views of the higher level of the industry (professional, managerial and technical) in ConstructionSkills – the Sector Skills Council for construction. ConstructionSkills is a partnership between CIC, CITB-ConstructionSkills and CITB Northern Ireland.
CIC are working with the BIM Task Group
The Government Construction Strategy was published by the Cabinet office on 31 May 2011. The report announced the Governments intention to require: collaborative 3D BIM on its projects by 2016 and in response to this a BIM Task Group was set up to address the challenges of training and educating the people who will deliver better integrated project information. The BIM Task Group brings together expertise from industry, government, public sector, institutes and academia and works with partners such as CIC to raise awareness of the BIM programme and requirements and ensure that a consistent message is delivered to the supply chain, as well as sharing best practice and allowing a mechanism for feedback.
