South East Region - Work
Business Plan
1. Regional Assembly
The Assembly has responsibilities in the three key areas of regional planning, advocacy, and accountability.
As Regional Planning Body, the Assembly is responsible for proposing strategic planning and transport policies to Government. It also prepares, monitors and reviews Regional Planning Guidance in South East England.
2. ConstructionSkills
For further information about initiatives which CIC-South East is involved with please refer to http://www.cic.org.uk/seast/cskills.shtml. Alternatively please consult the ConstructionSkills website http://www.constructionskills.net for general information.
3. CPD
Construction Industry Council South East (CIC-SE) has championed an innovative website that gives access to a national database of all CPD and events offered by major organizers in the built environment sector. The website provides a unique service to enable professionals to seek out the most appropriate vehicle for maintaining their Continuing Professional Development.
Links from each institution’s website open up www.cpdevents.org.uk to enable the user to search all participants’ event information. In this way, every construction professional is encouraged to learn alongside other disciplines.
The website is a catalyst to creating a culture of inter-disciplinary life-long learning and is part of a wider project to encourage collaborative planning and delivery of CPD.
Users can access information about events by searching by topic, date, location or any combination. The system will find matching events from across all contributing bodies and present details and contact information. A personalised monthly newsletter providing tailored event information is sent to all those who choose to register on the website. This proactive approach encourages aims to increase the uptake of CPD.
Developed and piloted in the South East, the project received funding from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the ODPM through South East Excellence. The Department of Trade and Industry funded a national roll-out. CIC-ConstructionSkills continues to support the project which is managed by the South East Centre for the Built Environment.
4. South East Centre for the Built Environment
The South East Centre for the Built Environment (SECBE) exists to help businesses in the South East to create a better environment through better business with core capital investment from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).
SECBE engages with CIC-South East
