Approved Inspectors Insurance for Minor Works

Please note that, in respect of Minor Works, for the purposes of insurance scheme approvals pursuant to the then ODPM’s [September 2005] guidelines the scheme will not cover minor work (as defined in Regulation 10 of the Building (Approved Inspectors etc) Regulations 2000) in which the approved inspector has a professional or financial interest, unless the interest arises only from responsibility for design of any of the work. You should also be aware that, although permitted under the Building (Approved Inspector etc) Regulations and by Insurance schemes, the CICAIR Management Board deprecates the practice of approved inspectors carrying out building control on work that they have designed.
