South West

The South West Committee was re-launched in Spring 2009 with the help of Barry Griffiths, ICE (Chair) and Jon Watkins, RIBA (Secretariat).

The committee has produced a business plan which outlines the following objectives to tackle as a committee.

CIC South West Strategy 2009 - 10

• Development of regional policy framework for professions to debate and respond effectively to consultations that affect the construction sector in the region

• Engagement with regional agencies and cultural organisations using CIC as the voice of the construction sector in the South West through regional forums, events and strategic interventions

• Communication through media of CIC SW policy and activity

• Support the professional skills base in the construction sector, leading to development of a Memorandum of Understanding between members

• Engagement with ConstructionSkills (CS) to increase awareness of construction professions within the regions’ schools and colleges

A successful Professional Development Programme (PDP) was held in Bristol in September 2009 with representatives from the construction professions finding the course of high value to their early careers.
