Wales Region
Established in December 1999, CIC Wales has 26 member organisations. CIC Wales
was able to quickly develop links with the National Assembly of Wales and is now
represented on a number of Assembly working groups, including the Wales Spatial
Plan Management Group. Regular meetings are also held with Assembly Ministers
on various issues. Members have produced three successful supplements in conjunction
with the Western Mail newspaper, drawing together members, the Construction Industry
Training Board, the National Assembly and the wider industry, to promote construction
in Wales.
CIC Wales has had considerable involvement in the development of the Rethinking
Construction Centre for Wales (RCCW) which was launched in March 2002. RCCW
is a partnership of organisation involved in the whole construction industry
in Wales, which aims to improve working practices in Wales through implementation
of the principles of Rethinking Construction.
CIC Wales is Chaired by Denys Morgan of the ICE, who has over 35 years experience
of the construction industry, following in the footsteps of Robert Firth who
was the first Chairman of CIC Wales.
