Time: 08.30 – 12.30pm
Cost: Free
Location: The Building Centre, London, WC1E 7BT
Constructively Diversifying is a workshop hosted by the CIC’s Diversity Panel. The workshop aims to bring together representatives of all the professional institutions and key stakeholders within the built environment to identify how we can jointly attract, retain and promote a diverse group of professionals at every level across the construction industry PEI’s. It is a follow up to the successful Constructive Women event hosted by the Diversity Panel in 2011. Constructively Diversifying includes experienced cross- industry speakers, from organisations such as the Foreign Commonwealth Office, in addition to presentations around the key CITB Be Fair Framework.
Speakers and topics include:
• Polly Williams Diversity Programme Manager at Royal Society
The Royal Society’s Establishing the Business Case for Diversity**
• The Royal Academy of Engineering Diversity Managers
‘The Royal Academy of Engineering Concordat’.
The RAE Concordat has gained 28 signatories, of which 26 are PEI’s, which covers 90% of engineering registrants and 215000 professional engineers within 18 months.
• Ian Dodds, CEO of Ian Dodds Consulting ‘Building a High Performance Culture through Leveraging the Power of Inclusion’
• Kate Lloyd, CITB, on the CITB Be Fair Framework
The Be Fair Framework enables the construction sector to ensure they have the skilled people they need for the future and to compete for contracts which increasingly request evidence of effective FIR Practices.
• Dr Dorte Rich Jørgensen, CIC Diversity panel CIBSE representative, ‘Constructively Diversifying’
Participants are asked to bring their own topics for discussion within break out groups. A facilitated workshop will create outputs for inclusion in an action plan template on diversity, for consideration by the professional institutions.
