The Construction Industry Council Yorkshire and Humber presents Death by Technology or the Miracle Cure? featuring Ian McMillan and Luke Carver Goss along with a great line up including

The construction industry appears to have mixed feelings about technological advances. On one hand it is at the forefront of these things, on the other hand, the industry has a reputation for looking at ‘new’ technologies with a fearful, cynical eye, always wondering whether the PI insurance covers the use of it, and who gets sued if it goes wrong.

But can traditional and technological approaches co-exist? Is it really a case of death by technology, or can technological advances provide the remedy that we need? Can we use past technology to inform how we move forward?

Maybe this industry is not suffering a painful death by technology, but rehabilitation. And instead of the two shying away from each other, we should be proud of our traditional heritage whilst shouting about the new. The two are not incompatible, sat in opposing tents, but rather huge sources of information that by working together, will continue to shape our built environment for the wider health of the industry.
