We invite you to join key stakeholders at an invite-only event ‘Place Building - Developing Homes & Communities’, hosted by the University College of Estate Management (UCEM).
This in-person event brings together The King’s Foundation, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Edge.
This event will take place on Wed 7 May 2025 from 10:30 – 13:00, with networking over lunch afterwards at Woburn House Conference Centre, Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9HQ
Scheduled contributors include Dr Wei-Yang OBE, CIC Chair of the Construction Industry Council and Dr William Bird MBE, who pioneered the concept of natural space and ‘green gyms’ as a means to improve community health.

The King’s Foundation’s innovative developments, amongst others, have redefined how mixed-use, mixed-income, varied tenure, walkable and locally distinctive communities can be created. This event will explore how these successes can be scaled and replicated more widely, addressing the challenges of delivering vibrant communities.
The event, which will also provide a good networking opportunity, will convene landowners, consultants, contractors, industry, house builders, housing associations, educational institutions and individuals from across the built environment to explore this challenge, as well as more general matters related to place building.
A variety of perspectives from across all built & natural environments, town planning and housing specialisms are needed to ensure the sector can create communities that serve the needs of all stakeholders over the long term, whether they be current residents, future generations or those involved in financing, planning and constructing new mixed-use developments.
We therefore hope you can join us to add your expert voice to the day’s discussions.
