Safer stairs and escalators

Did you know each year 100,000+ people are reported seriously injured on stairs and escalators?

…and that more people are killed through injury than in the construction industry?

Safety on stairs and escalators is vital. Work at the Health and Safety Laboratory (part of the HSE) has identified key factors which affect stair safety and CIRIA has published guidance Safer stairs in public places – assessment of existing stairs. Work has also been undertaken on escalator safety.

This FREE event will allow delegates to:

examine the key features of stairs and show how the safety of stairs can be assessed using a checklist
purchase a copy of CIRIA guide C722 at a discounted price explore options for making existing stairs safer and gain an understating about how to make ‘so far as is reasonably practicable’ decisions.
