The Urban Toy Box: CIC Yorkshire & Humber Annual Conference – Playful Spaces
This event has finished
The Construction Industry Council Yorkshire and Humber (CIC Y&H) Conference 2012 is to coincide with the National Architecture Festival held by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
The CIC Yorkshire and Humber are working with the RIBA Yorkshire to provide a conference that will explore the ‘serious’ side to the topic of playful spaces and the built environment as part of the Architecture Festival.
The aim of this full day conference is to provide attendees with a theoretical background to play and the urban environment, whilst picking up some ideas and tips to develop further creativity and innovation in their community and towns and cities.
The Urban Toy Box uses as its starting point the idea that games and play reflect and effect the social and political culture in which they are played, and in turn, that the specific skills and approaches that games and play utilise can be – or indeed need to be – applied to developing the urban environment for a modern society in uncertain economic times.
Speakers include Pat Kane, Ruwan Alvihare, Hans Venhuizen, Dr. Iain Borden and Anna Minton.
The event will be taking place on 21 June 2012 at York Racecourse. Tickets are priced at £75 + VAT, to book online visitwww.cic.org.uk/urbantoybox. There are limited student places available at £35 plus VAT. To purchase one of these please send proof that you are in full time education to enquiries@cic.org.uk
