Assessing the impact of Grenfell on professional indemnity insurance

Posted: 21st August 2018

On behalf of the MHCLG Industry Response Group (IRG), CIC launched a survey, supported by the other industry partners, BuildUK and CPA, in early 2018 to gather data on the impact of insurance on the sector in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

The survey sought to understand the extent to which terms for professional indemnity and other forms of insurance are being revised in the aftermath of the fire; and whether this would make it difficult for some organisations to continue to be involved in areas that are deemed higher risk.

It is now essential to run an updated survey to assess the situation following a full year since the Grenfell Tower fire, to capture all the renewals which have taken place since the tragedy.

The survey is intended to continue to help industry and government understand the extent of this problem and how it could impact the capacity of the sector.

CIC Chief Executive, Graham Watts said: “We need widespread engagement to get the fullest picture possible about the effect that the Grenfell Fire has had on Industry capacity and costs. It is important that every business participates even if you may have responded to the earlier survey.”

We would be grateful if could spare a few minutes to respond to the survey by clicking here. Even if you completed the earlier version as new questions have been added to enable us to get a more detailed picture. All responses are anonymous.

The closing date for the survey is 20 October 2018.
