Niall Lawless awarded CIC Honorary Affiliate Membership

Following the launch of the CIC Low Value Dispute Model Adjudication Procedure (CIC LVD MAP), on Friday 1st May 2020, on behalf of the Construction Industry Council, Stephen Hodder MBE Chair of CIC conferred Niall Lawless with Honorary Affiliate Membership for his services to the CIC and to the construction Industry.

Niall Lawless is a Chartered Arbitrator & Engineer, Adjudicator, and Mediator, and he has been involved with ADR for over twenty-five years resolving international commercial disputes to the value of over US$50 million. Niall is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Chartered Institute for Information Technology (British Computer Society), and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

For the last six years Niall chaired the Construction Industry Council’s ADR Management Board and was responsible for leading the production of CIC ADR publications including the CIC Users’ Guide to Adjudication, the CIC Model Mediation Agreement and Procedure, and the CIC Low Value Disputes Model Agreement and Procedure. Niall has been a Council member of the Association of Consulting Engineers (4 years), and a Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (5 years).

Niall is a strong voice in the industry with articles and commentaries published on various international platforms. In June 2020, Routledge will publish Adjudication Practice and Procedure: Ireland written by Damien Keogh and Niall Lawless.

I am delighted that the CIC Board agreed unanimously to confer Honorary Affiliate Membership on Niall for all his sterling work over the past six years, which has really made CIC’s dispute resolution activity into a very strong and relevant work-stream”.
