Posted: 21st March 2013

At yesterday’s CIC Council meeting, CIC Chairman Jack Pringle presented Hazel McKay and Michael Ankers OBE with Honorary Affiliate Memberships for their services to the CIC and to the built environment.

Hazel McKay is a professional town planner who has held key roles at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) where she has worked as a consultant since 2000. Hazel has served on CIC Council, as a representative for the RTPI, continuously since 1994. She was Chair of the CIC Sustainability Committee from 2005-2009 and Deputy Chair of the group prior to that, for a number of years.

Michael Ankers OBE had considerable involvement in the early development of the CIC. He was Deputy Chairman of the CIC Innovation & Research committee in the early 1990s, at a time when he was a Director at the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Subsequently he became CEO of the Construction Products Association for many years and has worked very closely with CIC in a number of areas – on the strategic forum, in joint submissions to select committees and as co-owners of the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Michael is author of the recently published independent review of the CIC Approved Inspector Register (CICAIR).

Graham Watts, Chief Executive of CIC said “We are delighted to have conferred Honorary Memberships on two town planners as a way of marking their valuable and on-going contributions to the CIC, dating back to the early years of the Council’s establishment
