CICAIR seeks Chair to lead Approved Inspector Code of Conduct review

Posted: 26th August 2015

CICAIR Ltd maintains and operates the Construction Industry Council Approved Inspectors Register (CICAIR) and all Approved Inspectors approved by CICAIR are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct for Approved Inspectors and Disciplinary Procedures of the Construction Industry Council Approved Inspectors Register. Approved Inspectors found to be operating outside of the Code of Conduct can be subject to CICAIR disciplinary proceedings that include a range of possible sanctions. The current Code of Conduct can be viewed here.

The Code of Conduct was last reviewed in 2011 and CICAIR have taken the decision that a new review is now timely. The review will be undertaken by a working group drawn from the membership of the CICAIR policy committee and it is expected that the review will be completed with a revised Code of Conduct launched in late 2016.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the review process and producing a revised Code of Conduct for approval by the CICAIR policy committee and Board of Directors. Applicants must be independent of current Approved Inspectors and shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview. Knowledge of legal and regulatory processes and the building regulations and building control framework would be desirable. Previous experience of writing and reviewing professional standards and undertaking consultations would be advantageous.
