National occupational standards consultation

Posted: 24th July 2013

National Occupational Standards (NOS) describe the competencies required by an individual to carry out a particular job function relating to their job role to a specified industry benchmark. When developing new standards or revising existing ones it is essential that CIC consults with industry to ensure the standards reflect best practice.

Review of Construction Contracting Operations Management Standards

These standards cover the competencies of senior technical people working in a decision making role in construction contracting operations management. They are for people working in a wide range of job occupations including estimators, quantity surveyors, buyers and planners.

The standards need to be kept up to date to reflect new industry practices relating to sustainability, energy use, low carbon and Building Information Modelling. We invite you to participate in our on line consultation.

The deadline for responses is 18 September 2013

Details of the consultation are available by clicking here.

New Engineering Surveying Operations National Occupational Standards

CIC have developed a new suite of Engineering Surveying Operations national occupational standards to cover the technical support role of Chain Person. The standards are suitable for someone with minimal previous experience in the field of engineering surveying operations. It is intended that the new standards will support the development of a new Level 2 apprenticeship framework.

We are seeking confirmation from the sector that the standards are fit for purpose and invite you to participate in our on line consultation.

The deadline for responses is 25 September 2013
