New President to lead CIAT

Gary Mees MCIAT has been inaugurated as the 27th President of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). Gary has been a sole practitioner based in Edinburgh since 2000. As an active Member, Gary has held the positions of Vice-President Practice and Vice-President Technical.
The new President received the Chain of Office at the close of the Institute’s AGM held in Edinburgh on 28 November. He holds office for the next two years.
Speaking of his appointment, Gary said ‘I am delighted and honoured to take on the role of President. These are positive times for the discipline of Architectural Technology, our members and the Institute with our ever growing influence nationally and internationally as well for the built environment at large. As President, I will be guiding the Institute into its next 50 years and positioning CIAT for the challenging and exciting times ahead for those studying and practising Architectural Technology.’
Also at the close of the AGM, Eddie Weir MCIAT became Vice-President Practice and Paul Laycock MCIAT took on the role of Vice-President Education.
