Construction Leadership Council

The Construction Leadership Council works between industry and government to identify and deliver actions supporting UK construction in building greater efficiency, skills and growth.

The Construction Leadership Council has forged an effective working relationship with government and convenes the industry response to urgent issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the impacts of the current crisis in Ukraine on the UK construction industry.

The Construction Leadership Council has twelve workstreams that work collaboratively to address the biggest issues facing the industry including skills, building safety and business models across all sectors of the industry.

How does the work of CIC fit in with the Construction Leadership Council?

CIC is heavily engaged in Construction Leadership Council efforts to bring together the industry through pooling resources and working collaboratively to support industry change. This includes leading the Building Safety Workstream, together with Peter Caplehorn of CPA and participating in fortnightly meetings with the Construction Minister plus advisory calls with the industry.

CIC is represented on a number of CLC steering groups and sub-groups on areas such as procurement and Professional Indemnity Insurance. 'Carbon Zero: the professional institutions’ climate action plan’ is an integral part of the CO2nstructZero initiative which sets out how the construction industry can collectively meet the Net Zero.
