CIC Approved Inspectors Register Review
Posted: 25th July 2012
CIC today announced that an independent review of the Approved Inspectors Register will be undertaken by Michael Ankers OBE, former Chief Executive of the Construction Products Association and current Chair of the Strategic Board of the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
The last independent review of CIC’s function as the body designated by the Secretary of State to approve inspectors under the Building Act 1984, was carried out in 2004. As the Department of Communities & Local Government (DCLG) is unable to fund a further review, the CIC Executive Board has decided, in the interest of responsible governance, to initiate a further review this year.
CIC Chief Executive, Graham Watts said “We feel that it is essential to have an outside-in look at our procedures and processes for managing the Approved Inspector function. Michael Ankers has a significant breadth of experience and knowledge of the industry and he will give the review the level of independence and impartiality that we require.”
Michael will report his findings to the CLG and CIC by the end of 2012.
