A digital revolution for the construction industry
Posted: 12th June 2013
A new online platform for architects and other specifiers within the construction industry to source detailed building product information has been launched.
Edinburgh based SpecifiedBy, who are responsible for popular Twitter service #SocialSpec, aim to take the convenience and search capabilities of online product directories and add modern functionality that can make sourcing, organising and processing building product information much easier.
With an emphasis on organisation and collaboration, SpecifiedBy provides specifiers with tools to search, share and download a variety of detailed product information, including; BIM components, CAD models, technical drawings, tech/spec sheets and case studies.
Founder Darren Lester said, “We are really excited to be announcing our public launch. Interest in the platform from both specifiers and manufacturers during the private beta has been really encouraging and we are glad to now be able to let lot’s more people try out the platform.”
Darren added “Our aim is to revolutionise how the industry accesses and shares digital information. SpecifiedBy is the first step towards that, making a giant leap forward from the existing online directories which are simply regurgitating the outdated printed catalogue model.”
In addition to making life easier for specifiers, SpecifiedBy is focused on making digital marketing easy for building product manufacturers, providing them with active lead generation solutions and simple analytics to measure their return on investment in real time.
The platform is free for architects, technicians, surveyors, engineers, project managers and other industry specifiers who can sign up at www.specifiedby.com
