CIC appoints Gordon Masterton OBE as new Deputy Chairman

The Construction Industry Council has appointed Gordon Masterton OBE, Vice President of Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., one of the world’s largest and most diverse providers of professional technical services, as its new Deputy Chairman. Gordon succeeds the Rt. Hon Nick Raynsford MP in this role, which starts with immediate effect. He will succeed Keith Clarke as Chairman, for a 2 year term, starting in June 2010.

Gordon is a civil and structural engineer and has international experience in major infrastructure projects. He is a graduate of Edinburgh University, the Open University and Imperial College, London, and the author of over 40 technical papers on buildings, bridges, tunnels and the history of civil engineering. He served as President of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2005-06. In 2008 he was awarded an OBE for services to civil engineering in Scotland. Gordon is currently project representative for Crossrail. Gordon is chair of the CIC Health and Safety Committee, chair of the Standing Committee on Structural Safety (H and S, ICE, IstructE).

Jack Pringle, RIBA Immediate Past President and a Partner at Pringle Brandon takes office as Vice Chairman of CIC. Jack Pringle studied at Bristol University before qualifying as an architect. He worked for Sir Phillip Powell at Powell and Moya for eight years, working on social housing and other public sector projects. In the early 80s Jack started his own practice and in 1986 this became Pringle Brandon when Chris Brandon and Melvin Starling joined him. Jack led Pringle Brandon’s ground breaking research, 20/20 Vision, in the mid 90s, which led to the world’s first major flat screen technology dealing room for Barclays Capital and predicted a universal move to higher occupational densities and simpler desks in the workplace
