CIC2050 Group inspired Speed Mentoring event held in Newcastle
Posted: 29th January 2015
The Construction Industry Council (CIC) North East and Construction Excellence in the North East (CENE), partnered with Generation for Change (G4C) to hold their first speed mentoring event on the evening of Wednesday 28 January, hosted by Arup in Newcastle.
Taking part were 15 mentees and ten mentors who came from a wide range of companies, representing a good mixture of large and small firms and multiple disciplines. These included EC Harris, Arup, Balfour Beatty, Cundall, Emerald Architects, TGA, X-Site, Faulkner Browns and Henning Project Management. The overwhelming reaction from participants was very positive and more events are envisaged.
Speaking after the event, John Nielsen, Chair of the CIC NE regional committee said: “Everybody who has taken part in the event this evening, both mentors and mentees alike, has commented on how valuable they found the experience. It is something we would like to repeat many times over so that more people can benefit.”
Speed mentoring events for construction professionals were first piloted in London last year by the CIC2050 Group.
