Graham Watts has been Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Council since 1991. He is a member of the Strategic Forum for Construction and its Executive Committee and an Executive Board member of ConstructionSkills. He is also an Honorary Fellow of RIBA, CIBSE, the ABE, ICWCI, BIID and the Faculty of Building and an Honorary Member of the RICS and CIAT. He was awarded the President’s Medal of the CIOB in 2000 and the Peter Stone Award of the ABE in 1996. He was Visiting Professor at the University of Northumbria for twelve years from 2000. Graham received an OBE in the New Year Honours in 2008 for his services to the construction industry.
Bill Pryke, Chief Executive of Chartered ICES, said of the award: “Graham is a long-term supporter of ICES and always champions the vital role our members play in the construction process. I am delighted he has accepted our award."
On receiving news of the award Graham Watts said: “I am conscious that Honorary Fellowship is the highest award that the ICES can bestow and I am very touched by this recognition from Alan Barrow, Bill Pryke and the whole team at ICES. I believe that my first association with ICES was a quarter of a century ago and it has been a great privilege to work alongside their members and staff over the intervening years. I look forward to continuing to support the significant contribution the Institution and its members make to the industry as a whole.”
