Constructionarium
Constructionarium, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing hands-on learning experiences for students studying built environment courses. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of construction professionals by offering immersive, real-world learning opportunities.
At Constructionarium, students work collaboratively over the course of five days to construct scaled replicas of iconic structures from around the world. This unique experience takes place on our 19-acre live construction site in North Norfolk, which serves as a fully immersive site simulator. Our portfolio boasts 18 complex and challenging construction projects, each designed to reflect real-world scenarios and provide a wide range of learning opportunities.
We have a small, dedicated team that regularly delivers these enriching experiences. From time to time, we bolster our team with additional resources to ensure the best possible learning environment. Opportunities for involvement can range from a week’s work to longer commitments. We particularly welcome individuals who have had on-site experience within the past 12 months and hold up-to-date certifications. Those with experience in teaching, mentoring, or coaching are especially encouraged to join our network.
This opportunity is ideal for those who are recently retired, looking to creatively use their volunteer days, or seeking to refresh their skills in preparation for a return to work. We offer both voluntary and paid opportunities, providing a flexible and rewarding way to contribute to the future of the construction industry.
Our projects are designed to challenge and inspire. Students get to experience the full spectrum of construction activities, from planning and design to execution and problem-solving. This hands-on approach not only enhances their technical skills but also fosters teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking. By working on real-world projects, students gain invaluable insights into the complexities and demands of the construction industry.
Moreover, our immersive site simulator in North Norfolk provides a safe yet realistic environment where students can apply their classroom knowledge to practical situations. This unique setting allows them to understand the intricacies of construction work, including safety protocols, project management, and effective communication. The experience is both educational and transformative, preparing students for successful careers in the built environment.
We believe that learning should be dynamic and engaging. That's why we continuously update our portfolio with new and exciting projects that reflect the latest trends and technologies in the construction industry. Our goal is to keep students motivated and curious, encouraging them to explore innovative solutions and think outside the box.
