CIC is pleased to announce that BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT has joined CIC. Along with BCS, CIC now has a record number of 32 Members.
Adam Thilthorpe, Director of Professionalism at BCS said after the appointment: “BCS is delighted to have been confirmed as a Member of the Construction Industry Council. The built environment and the construction industry are complicit in the success of the internet of things and smart cities - cities that put the needs of people first. This is a forward thinking collaboration where we can put people at the heart of our future digital and physical worlds.”
CIC Chief Executive, Graham Watts OBE welcomed BCS saying; “The unanimous acceptance of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT into membership of CIC by the other 31 Members is indicative of the changing shape of both the construction industry and the built environment professions. Digital and Information technology is vitally important to creating and maintaining the built environment and many people working across the industries that serve the built environment have not qualified in traditional construction disciplines but in IT. This decision recognises their importance alongside all other built environment professions”.
