CIC Approved Inspectors Register

Posted: 13th November 2013

CIC is now seeking applications from volunteers to constitute the standing panels that will service the various functions involved in running the Register from 2014.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in the operation of the Register and to help set higher standards for the provision of Approved Inspector services.

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) was initially designated by the Secretary of State in 1996 as the approval body for Approved Inspectors under the Building Act 1984 and in 2012 CIC felt that, to demonstrate responsible governance, an independent and objective review of CIC’s designated function was due.

The subsequent review report was accepted by the CIC Executive Board in February 2013 and the report proposed a number of recommendations designed to improve the way the Register operates. CIC is in the process of creating a new limited company wholly owned by CIC, with an appropriate governance structure, to oversee the Register.

A key component of the operational structure of the new company will be the formation of a number of standing panels to service the various functions involved in running the Register.

Appointments to the standing panels will be made by the CICAIR Ltd Board of Directors. All applications will be considered and are welcomed irrespective of age, gender or ethnicity. Applicants may be required to attend an interview.

Applications should be made no later than Friday 20 December 2013 and all applications will be treated in confidence. For more information, including details on how to apply click here.
