CIC launches Corporate Affiliate Scheme

Posted: 12th May 2021

CIC has today launched a Corporate Affiliate scheme to allow companies to be better connected to the latest industry insights, events and activities.

For over 30 years, CIC has been at the centre of activity regarding the improvement of the construction industry and of our built environment. CIC is the only organisation to have been engaged with every major structural initiative of the past 30 years, from the Latham Review (Constructing the Team), the Egan Reviews (Rethinking Construction and Accelerating Change), the Construction Industry Board, the Strategic Forum for Construction, employing the Chief Construction Adviser, managing the government’s BIM programme and, more recently, the Construction Leadership Council. CIC has been at the heart of the industry’s engagement with government throughout this period. From The Building Act and the CDM Regulations to the draft Building Safety Bill, CIC has been at the forefront of policy developments affecting the built environment.

Becoming a CIC Corporate Affiliate will enable companies to receive early notice of latest industry developments as well as invitations to exclusive CIC events, such as our regular Economic and Policy Briefings, receptions, launches and regular webinars.

Stephen Hodder MBE, CIC Chair, said “The strapline of CIC is Built Environment Professions Together so the introduction of the corporate affiliate scheme will enable us to expand that network directly into industry.”

The scheme’s champion has been Tony Burton, a former CIC chair and until recently a Senior Partner of Gardiner & Theobald. Speaking as the new scheme is launched, Mr Burton said: “When I became chair of CIC I discovered a world of information that both I and my company knew little about even though our offices were across the street from the CIC! As Chair, I was able to access the data, information, and knowledge of government activity and it made me wonder why firms in the industry could not access it directly. Now they can and I believe they will find real value in it!”

CIC Chief Executive Graham Watts OBE said of this new offering from CIC; “CIC has never previously shared its information beyond its immediate membership of the professional bodies and so we are delighted to be able to spread our network directly to companies who will be able to benefit from being at the leading edge of information.”
