CIC welcomes the opportunity to help build a safer future
Posted: 18th May 2018
The Construction Industry Council (CIC) welcomes the publication of the final report of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety, carried out by Dame Judith Hackitt and laid before Parliament by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, as a vital opportunity to address the systemic failings that have been identified in this and other recent reports.
As the key umbrella body for the professions in the built environment, CIC will play an essential role in collaboration with the fire safety sector, Build UK, the Construction Products Association and other leading organisations to discuss, address and implement change wherever this is seen to be essential to build a safer future.
This is an important report with many recommendations with wide ranging implications for the future of the industry which rightly deserves serious consideration so the Council, comprising the 35 member organisations of CIC, will meet on 6 June for the sole purpose of considering the Hackitt Review and her final report and recommendations and, therefore, it is CIC’s intention to issue further comprehensive statements after that meeting.
