CO2nstruct Zero programme continues to grow
Posted: 9th December 2021
Launched in March 2021, CO2nstruct Zero brings together organisations that are demonstrating leadership in relation to carbon reduction, sharing their good practice with others from across the UK construction sector, and providing a set of metrics that enables the sector, quarterly, to collectively measure its progress to Net Zero.
Since its launch more than 50 Business Champions have committed to targeted carbon reduction, and to provide details of how they are achieving this to help those from across the wider sector.
Today’s announcement marks CO2nstruct Zero’s continued growth.
The Environment Agency has become the first client organisation to join the Construction Leadership Council’s CO2nstruct Zero programme.
In the final round of new champions for 2021, The Environment Agency are among 11 companies selected. The other new Business Champions are:
- AESG
- Benfield Timber Buildings
- EvoEnergy
- Galliford Try
- Henry Brothers
- Kerridge Commercial Systems
- Osborne
- VolkerWessels UK
- Xtratherm
- Zed Pods
In addition to welcoming these Business Champions, we are delighted to announce today that PwC UK has joined CO2nstruct Zero as a Partner.
Environment Agency programme manager and CO2nstruct Zero Business Leader Owen Tarrant said: “We’ve set the goal of reaching net zero by 2030. Construction accounts for over half of our annual carbon emissions per year and we are already reducing this through nature based solutions and new tools and technology.
Our involvement with the CO2nstruct Zero initiative is a great opportunity to collaborate across the industry and share our progress to help facilitate the country’s shift to low-carbon infrastructure.”
