COINS Grand Challenge
Posted: 15th November 2016
COINS Construction Industry Solutions (COINS), is on a mission to unearth people from all over the world with innovative ideas that have the power to change the built environment and in turn our societies. That mission takes the form of the COINS Construction Industry Grand Challenge, now open for entries.
A company that’s as deeply rooted in social responsibility as it is in cutting edge technology, COINS launched its Grand Challenge in 2015 to give the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders the support they need to bring their ideas to life. The company believes that through innovation, the construction industry can improve quality of life and help create a more sustainable world.
The challenge is divided into two competitions – Undergraduate and Open – creating one space for undergraduate students to compete and a separate space for a wider group of entrants. Applicants in either competition are asked to submit ideas around one of three themes: New & Emerging Technologies, Sustainability and Leadership.
Winners can expect to receive paid internships, cash prizes and the chance to be exposed to some of the industry’s most influential leaders. Up to 18 finalists will be invited on a trip to the COINS Construction Innovation Conference & Exhibition as well as the Grand Challenge Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony in London on 8 February 2017.
Challenge Chairman and COINS CEO Robert Brown tells us: “The competitions are open to undergrads, postgrads, recent grads, young entrepreneurs or people already in industry – more or less anyone who is over 18 and has a relevant idea. Maybe your discipline is architecture or engineering, construction or project management, sustainable development, computer science… the list goes on and on. If it can be applied to the construction industry then we want to hear about it.”
“Last year’s inaugural Grand Challenge was a huge success, and we plan to keep building the event each year to make sure we leave no stone unturned when it comes to uncovering ideas that can change our world.”
The call for entries will close on 16 December 2016 and finalists will be notified on 30 December 2016.
