Construction Industry Council Chief Executive receives OBE

Construction Industry Council Chief Executive receives OBE Graham Watts, Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Council was presented with an OBE for services to Construction by HRH The Prince of Wales at a recent Investiture.

Graham has been Chief Executive of CIC since 1991 and is also the Secretary of the Strategic Forum for Construction’s Olympic and Integration Task Forces, both of which are hosted by CIC, a member of the Strategic Forum and its Executive Committee; a member of the ConstructionSkills Council, Strategic Partnership Panel and Executive Committee and Chairman of its Standards & Qualifications Committee; and a Council member of Constructing Excellence. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Northumbria, an Honorary Fellow of the RIBA, CIBSE, the ABE and the Faculty of Building and an Honorary Member of the RICS and CIAT. He was awarded the President’s Medal of the CIOB in 2000 and the Peter Stone Award in 1996.

On receiving his OBE Graham said: “ It is lovely to have one’s work recognised in this way but I see this just as much as recognition for the collaborative, integrated, multi-disciplinary ethos of CIC, which has been at the heart of modernising and improving the industries that create and manage the built environment over the past 20 years. In this context, I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to many hundreds of people, both volunteers and staff, who have contributed so selflessly to these achievements.”
