Constructionarium Strengthens Facilities with Support from Kings Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council

Posted: 16th September 2025

Constructionarium, the not-for-profit organisation providing unique hands-on construction education for students and industry, has announced the completion of facility upgrades thanks to Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk.

The funding has enabled Constructionarium to invest in a new staff welfare block and improved storage facilities at its all weather, purpose-built training site in Norfolk. These upgrades will significantly enhance the experience of both staff and learners, ensuring a more effective environment for practical training.

Constructionarium provides real-life construction experiences to students, apprentices, and professionals, giving them the opportunity to build scaled-down versions of iconic projects. Thousands of learners from across the UK and internationally have benefited from these unique experiences, which bridge the gap between theory and practice.

In addition, Constructionarium also offers technical courses that are CITB approved, which helps upskill or reskill employees across the sector.

“These improvements are a significant development for our organisation,” said Julia Stevens, Chief Exec of Constructionarium. “The enhanced facilities not only support the welfare of our hard-working teaching staff; it improves the storage and protection of learning resources - it also strengthens our role as a not for profit business in West Norfolk. With the council’s support, we are better equipped to attract more learners from academia and industry. Alongside this, our vital role in developing the future construction workforce of the UK will continue to contribute to the region’s economic growth.”

The investment reflects the council’s commitment to education, skills development, and local enterprise. Constructionarium’s work aligns with the local demand and national priorities to address skills shortages in the construction industry and provides vital opportunities for learners to gain practical, industry-relevant experience.
