Help shape a new British Standard on suicide awareness
Posted: 12th June 2025
Unfortunately, on average two people working in the UK built environment sector die by suicide every day. BSI is currently facilitating the development of a new British Standard, BS 30480 Suicide and the workplace – Intervention, prevention and support for people affected by suicide – Guide, that will provide organisations with vitally needed support.
The consultation is an opportunity for anyone to review the draft and provide feedback. We’re keen to get your views to help make sure the standard reflects a wide range of knowledge and real-world experience with suicide awareness and education.
All comments will be considered by the expert panel developing the standard, and will help ensure the final version is relevant for organisations of all types and sizes and can be meaningfully applied in practice.
The draft is open for comment until 16th July. You can view and respond to it in two ways:
- Submit general comments using the short survey here. You do not have to have read the standard to submit a response to this survey.
- Read the full draft and submit detailed comments here.
If you’d like to stay informed about the development of BS 30480, including updates on the standard’s launch, you can sign up for communications here: https://pages.bsigroup.com/Register-Your-Interest-in-BS30480
