Posted: 9th August 2016
Construction charity, Construction Youth Trust is delighted to announce that Carol Lynch has been appointed as their new Chief Executive Officer.
Carol brings a wealth of experience from both the voluntary sector and an early career in the construction industry, enabling the charity to build on its current success to help more young people build better futures.
An engineer by training, Carol has worked on major construction projects, including the Channel Tunnel. After leaving engineering she worked in the voluntary and community sector for over 20 years and is currently Chief Executive of Kent Community Foundation. Previously Carol was Managing Director of Worklife Support, a social enterprise providing training and support programmes to schools and charities.
Andy Wates, Chair of Trustees at Construction Youth Trust said, “it’s an exciting stage for the Trust and we’re looking forward to Carol joining us and helping the Trust build on what we’ve achieved in the last decade. We believe Carol’s combination of industry knowledge, and her experience in the voluntary sector, in particular working in schools, makes her ideal to take the Trust forward.”
Carol commented: “I’m delighted to be joining Construction Youth Trust I am passionate about affecting real change within the lives of young people and helping them overcome barriers into employment. The construction industry gave me a fantastic grounding in my own career and I look forward to working with the team to promote the exciting opportunities that construction can offer other young people. As a female engineer, campaigns such as #NotJustForBoys are particularly close to my heart.”
Carol will be joining the Trust on 3rd October. Current Executive Director, Christine Townley, who has been with the Trust for over 10 years will be taking on a new role as the Trust’s Ambassador. The charity’s Ambassador Programme enables leading industry figures to work with the Trust to affect change and to help more young people find training and employment opportunities within construction.
