Future Professionals Programme 2009-10
Posted: 19th November 2009
The Construction Industry Council in conjunction with Newham Education Business Partnership and the London Borough of Newham has developed a mentoring scheme called the Future Professionals Programme designed to support potential construction professionals. The scheme is aimed at young people aged 14-19 many of whom are enrolled on the Construction Built Environment and Engineering Diplomas.
This programme endeavours to give students who have expressed an interest in becoming a construction professional the guidance of a practitioner and to:
• Support informed career choices
• Raise student’s aspirations
• Support improvement in their academic performance
• Develop key employability skills
Volunteer mentors provide support through a mix of email and regular meetings with their mentee at their school or college.
We would love to hear from practitioners with an interest in supporting the achievements of young people who have a background in one of the following disciplines:
• Civil, structural and building services engineers
• Architects technologists and interior designers
• Project and construction managers
• Building and quantity surveyors
• Town planners
