Building the Future Economy: Manifesto for the Built Environment

During the election campaign in 2009 CIC issued a Manifesto for the Built Environment encompassing views for all sectors within the industry. Investing in the built environment spreads the benefits of economic stimulus: each £1 spent on construction generates £2.84 in economic activity; it also improves the environment and develops society. Part of the problem in transmitting this message is that there are many professions and occupations, represented by many separate bodies who plan, design, construct, manage and maintain the built environment. So, we tend to talk separately about housing, architecture, planning, infrastructure, engineering, construction, plumbing etc. But all of these sectors and disciplines come together cohesively within the CIC.
